Dog walking rota
A dog walking rota, so Biscuit gets walked once, not three times
The kids promised they would walk the dog. FairTurns turns the promise into a roster: morning and evening walks, feeds and the monthly flea treatment, shared out by turns on one link the house can check.
Free, with no limit on people or dates. No card.
Everyone loves the dog. Nobody is sure who fed her.
Getting the puppy took one family meeting and a lot of promises. Six months on, the morning walk happens if Dad gets up first, Biscuit has twice been given two dinners because nobody knew she’d already eaten, and the cat’s litter tray is somehow always nobody’s job.
Pets need the same things at the same times every day, which is exactly what a roster is good at. Set the walks and feeds once, and FairTurns hands them out by fewest turns. Monthly jobs like the flea treatment go on a date of the month, so they don’t quietly slide for three months.
It also works for neighbours sharing the walks for an older owner’s dog, or housemates sharing a cat. The chore roster maker sketches a printable week if you’d like to try it on paper first.

How FairTurns looks after the pets
Walks at real times
A morning walk at 6:30 and an evening walk at 5:30, each its own date, so one person isn’t stuck with both.
Feeds that don’t double up
One name on each feed means one dinner. Anyone can check the link before they open the tin.
Monthly jobs on the date
Flea treatment every 1st of the month, the vet check-up as a single date. They sit on the calendar months ahead.
Jobs matched to who can
The ten-year-old does feeds and the litter tray; the teenager and adults walk the big dog. Fill only gives each job to people set up for it.
Fewest turns goes next
Fill gives each walk to whoever has done it least, and the turns chart settles “I walked him yesterday”.
Holiday cover
When the family is away, add the neighbour or the pet sitter by name and put them on those days.

When you want it to run itself

A$1 a month per organisation, paid 1 to 5 years at a time. See Pro and pricing
Good to know
- Daily walks are set up once for each day of the week, each repeating weekly. It takes a few minutes, then looks after itself.
- Kids don’t pick their own walks; you decide who can do each job and the roster shares them out.
- FairTurns shows whose turn it is; it doesn’t record that the dog was fed. A quick look at the link before feeding avoids the second dinner.
- Keep vet details and medication doses off the roster; a date carries a name and times only.
Questions
Can the kids see whose turn it is?
Yes. Share the public link and they can open it on any phone or tablet without signing in. Kids can be added by name only, with no email.
How do we roster a walk every day?
Click Monday, set the time and choose Every week on Monday, then do the same for each day of the week. Each one repeats on its own, and Fill shares out all seven.
Can the neighbour cover while we are away?
Yes. Add the neighbour by name, put them on the days you are away, and mark the family away for that stretch so Fill doesn’t give those walks to anyone else.
Can only the adults walk the big dog?
Yes. Limit Walk to the people strong enough to hold him, and give the younger ones Feed and Litter tray. Fill only gives each job to people set up for it.
What does it cost?
Free, with no limit on people, pets or dates. Pro adds email reminders and replies for A$1 a month, paid a year or more at a time.
