Music and piano teachers
Your piano lesson schedule, mapped out for the term
Put each student into their regular weekly lesson, see the whole term at a glance, and give families one link that always shows the right time. Holidays, one-off changes and the concert all fit around it.
Free, with no limit on people or dates. No card.
The diary is fine until week one of a new term
Most piano teachers carry the whole studio in a paper diary or a notes app: Mia at 3:45 on Tuesdays, Rohan straight after, Ana’s longer lesson on Thursdays now she’s doing Grade 5. It works week to week. Then a new term starts, two families change days because of netball, someone asks which weeks you’re away in the holidays, and a parent texts at 3:30 to ask what time the lesson is today.
What helps is the timetable written out once, a term ahead, in a place families can look at themselves. FairTurns does that part well. You put each student into their time, it keeps the weeks coming, and one link answers “what time is Mia’s lesson?” without a message to you.

How FairTurns fits a teaching week
Each student, their own time
Make a team for each student and set their weekly lesson, such as Tuesday 3:45–4:15. With one student in the team, Fill puts them on every lesson ahead.
The term already there
Weekly lessons are kept 3, 6, 9 or 12 months ahead, so next term’s Tuesdays are on the calendar before this term ends.
One week moved
A student is away for a school camp? Change or cancel that one lesson and only that week changes. A cancelled week can be brought back.
Students without email
Add students by name only, or invite a parent by email in the student’s place. Signed in, that parent sees the lessons on their team, with the next ones first under the calendar.
Group classes too
A Saturday theory class or ensemble is one more team with a place for each student, repeating every week.
One link for families
Turn on the public roster link and families check the week on their phone as a list or calendar, no sign-in needed.

When you want it to run itself
Invite a parent in each student’s place and Pro emails them a reminder before each lesson, plus the week’s schedule on the day you choose. If a parent replies “I can’t make it”, you get an email, so a missed lesson isn’t a surprise at 3:45.
A$1 a month per organisation, paid 1 to 5 years at a time. See Pro and pricing
Good to know
- Set up the year’s lessons in the last week of the holidays: by then most families know their sport and after-school days, and fewer times move in week two.
- Students don’t book their own times: you put each student into a time, and families see it on the link. Fees and invoices stay in whatever you use now.
- For a permanent change of day, stop the old weekly time repeating after its last week and add the new one. Lessons already given stay in the record.
- The public link shows the whole studio’s week to anyone who has it, so initials or first names work best for children.
Questions
Can I use FairTurns for my piano lesson schedule?
Yes, for the timetable itself. You put each student into their regular slot, the term is laid out ahead, and families check one link for the time. Bookings and fees stay with whatever you already use.
How do I handle the school holidays?
Cancel the lessons that fall in the holidays, one date at a time. Your regular times carry on as usual when term starts, and any cancelled week can be brought back.
What if I teach at two schools as well as at home?
Make a team for each place, or add the place to each student’s team name. Within your studio, Fill won’t put a student in two places at overlapping times, and each team has its own colour on the calendar.
Can a family see just their own child?
Yes, when the parent is invited in the student’s place: people who sign in see the teams they are on, so they see their own child’s lessons. The public link is one page for the whole studio, which suits studios happy to share initials and times.
What does it cost?
The lesson schedule is free, with no limit on students or weeks. Pro, with the reminder emails, is A$1 a month for the studio, paid 1 to 5 years at a time.
