Footy and soccer roster
Home-game duties for junior footy and soccer
Home games need nets up, corner flags out, a canteen running and somebody waving the flags behind the goals. FairTurns shares those jobs across your families and puts every home round on one link.
Free, with no limit on people or dates. No card.
Somebody has to put the nets up at 7:30
Junior footy and soccer clubs run on families. On a home Sunday someone unlocks the shed at 7:30, drags the goals into place, pegs the nets and walks the corner flags out to four fields. Then the canteen opens, a parent runs water for the under 9s, a dad stands behind the goals as goal umpire, and after the last game someone has to pack it all away again.
Most clubs ask each family for a set number of duties a season. Keeping track of that in a spreadsheet works until a family has kids in the under 8s and the under 12s, the draw changes after a washout, and three families have done six duties while others haven’t done one.
A roster that knows which Sundays are home games, counts each family’s turns and shows everyone their date makes the ask simple and fair to see.

How FairTurns runs home-game duties
Home games only
Most draws alternate, so choose “Every second Sunday” for home rounds. Where the draw doesn’t alternate, add each home game as a one-off date.
Every job as a position
Ground set-up, Water runner, Goal umpire, Canteen and Pack-up, each with its headcount. A home game then shows every empty place at a glance.
Families with two kids playing
Add the family once and put them on both age groups. Fill won’t give them two jobs at the same time on the same morning.
The duties counted
The turns chart beside Fill shows how many dates each family has, so the committee can see who has done their share.
Away weekends
A family away for a tournament marks those days, and Fill leaves them off. The roster shows them as Away and nothing more.
One link for the whole club
Post the public roster link in every team chat. Families open it on their phone without an account or an app.

When you want it to run itself
With Pro, parents who have accepted an invitation get a reminder before their duty and can reply “I can’t make it” from the email. The next family in line is put on and asked, and the duty coordinator gets an email, so a gap on the nets doesn’t wait until 7:30 on Sunday.
A$1 a month per organisation, paid 1 to 5 years at a time. See Pro and pricing
Good to know
- Set up 30 minutes before the first game and pack up straight after the last: two families on each is plenty for a four-field ground.
- When the draw changes after a washout, move or cancel that one date; the rest of the season stays as it is.
- Families don’t book their own duty Sundays: Fill puts them on, and they see their turn on the link.
- Goal umpires and linespeople for junior games are often parents. If your league appoints match officials, roster only the club’s own jobs here.
Questions
How many duties should each family do in a season?
Count the places: say 10 home games with 8 jobs each is 80 duties. Divide by the number of families and you know what to ask for. Fill then shares them out and the turns chart shows where each family stands.
Can each age group run its own duties?
Yes. Give each age group its own team and make each coordinator a team moderator. The club administrator still sees every team, and clashes are checked across all of them.
Does it work for soccer as well as Aussie rules?
It works for any code. The jobs are just positions you name, so use Linesperson and Nets for soccer, or Goal umpire and Boundary for footy.
What if a family wants all their duties done early in the season?
Put them on the dates they want by hand. Fill counts those turns and gives the rest of the season to other families.
Can we print the roster for the clubhouse noticeboard?
Yes. Print the calendar or list view straight from your browser and pin it up, and share the link for everyone who checks their phone.
