The join link suits a big, open group: forty parents at Wattle Grove Kindy, say, where typing in every address would take an evening. It is off for every organisation until an administrator turns it on.
- Press Settings in the menu, then the Join link tab.
- Press Enable. The heading now says On.
- Copy the link shown under The link. It looks like fairturns.com/join/ followed by a code.
- Share it where the people you mean will see it: the parents’ newsletter, the group chat, the noticeboard.
What the person joining sees
- They open the link and see your organisation’s name.
- They type Your email address and press Join.
- FairTurns emails them a link. It works for two weeks.
- They open it, choose their name and a password, and they are in.
Someone already signed in to FairTurns just sees a Join button with your organisation’s name on it.
Note: People who join by link belong to the organisation but to no team yet. An administrator or the team’s moderator adds them to a team from its People tab before they can be rostered.
Switch it off or replace it
Anyone holding the link can join, so switch it off once everyone is in.
- Disable stops the link working for everybody. Confirm with Disable the link. Nobody already in is affected, and pressing Enable later brings back the same link, so anywhere you shared it starts working again.
- Replace this link makes a new one and the old one stops working straight away. Confirm with Replace the link. Use this if the link has gone somewhere you didn’t intend, then share the new one.
For a small or closed group, adding people by email or name is usually simpler, and nobody joins that you didn’t add. After people join, decide who helps run things in Administrators, moderators and members.
