A new team has one place on every date: one person is “on”. That is all many teams need. When a date holds different jobs, or more than one person, give the team positions. At Lakeside Little Athletics, Saturday mornings need three on the canteen and two on the barbecue.
- Open the team and press the Positions tab.
- In Name the places, type the first job under What is it called, such as Canteen.
- Set How many people, such as 3.
- Press Name the places.
This names the place every date already had, so anyone already rostered keeps their turn. Each upcoming date now has three Canteen places.
Add more positions
- On the same tab, press New position.
- Type What is it called (Barbecue) and How many people (2).
- Press Add position.
Every upcoming date gets the new places, empty and ready to fill. The calendar now counts five places on each Saturday and shows how many are still empty.
Note: A date has a name and times only, with no checklist inside it. Put the job into the position name (“Barbecue: set up and gas”) or the team name, so it shows wherever the place does.
Change a headcount or name
Press Edit beside the position. Change What it is called or How many people it needs and press Save. Renaming changes the label everywhere, past and future, and nobody loses a turn.
Raising the number adds empty places to upcoming dates. Lowering it removes empty places. If some of the extra places already have someone on them, FairTurns lists them and asks: Take them off those dates, or Leave them on as extra people. Press Save the position to finish.
Delete a position
Press Delete beside it and confirm with Delete the position. Its places come off every upcoming date; past dates keep it. If some people were set up for that position and nothing else, you choose whether they can now do any position, move to another one, or come off the team.
Deleting the last one shows Remove instead, and the team goes back to its single unnamed place.
Next, decide who can do what, then fill the empty places. More on positions and headcounts.
